Be A Volunteer Pilot

SouthWings is looking for pilots who are interested in volunteering their flying skills to help bring about positive environmental change. Created in 1996, SouthWings exists to help provide an aerial perspective to issues affecting the health of our planet. We currently have a strong community of about 50 volunteer pilots and are actively looking to increase that number!

We operate over an 11-state region of the southeastern US (WV, VA, KY, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN, AL, MS, LA). Currently the most overwhelming need for pilots is along the Gulf coast of LA, MS, AL, and FL but anyone interested in volunteer flying is welcome!

SouthWings is a 501c(3) non-profit organization and is a proud member of the Air Care Alliance along with other great organizations such as Angel Flight, LilghtHawk, and Pilots N Paws. We're a strong community of pilots who want to try and do some good with our flying.

We require our volunteer pilots to have at least 750 hours PIC time, be legal and current, and either own or have access to an aircraft. Additionally, pilots will need to have SouthWings listed as additionally insured on their policy.

Feel free to email me at for more information.

Thanks for reading and have a terrific Thanksgiving!
